Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With winter settled in and days that seem like there’s barely any daylight, it can be tough to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond doing annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your air conditioner is running at its best.

Here are a few that we find very helpful here in Chadron:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is escaping your home. Not to mention that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside also. There are a host of options that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively simple fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your bills. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can take care of it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some can last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a host of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could likely improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of pollutants that are emitted from various common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already handling, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having air conditioner service completed annually helps make sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 308-832-4321  to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
